We intentionally create programs and events that help Kennett Square become a more beautiful and welcoming community where all can belong and prosper.
Placemaking
Kennett Collaborative helps to reimagine and reinvent public spaces through seasonal initiatives that make Kennett a fun and beautiful place to live and explore. These include programs like Kennett Blooms—a spring and summer placemaking initiative to install planters and new gardenscapes throughout the community—and Christmas in Kennett, a winter placemaking initiative to fill the town with holiday cheer including lights along State Street, a town Christmas tree, and seasonal planters.
Events
Kennett Collaborative intentionally creates programs and events that help Kennett become a more beautiful and welcoming community where all can belong and prosper. We design events that bring people together and celebrate the local businesses that make Kennett thrive. Our events include Kennett Brewfest and Winterfest, Kennett Summerfest, the Holiday Village Market, and Thursday Evenings in the Square street closures. We also work collaboratively with other organizations to support events like Clover Market, Dia De los Muertos, Juneteenth events, the Memorial Day Parade, and the Holiday Light Parade.
Community Development
The built environment is a huge component of a thriving community. For Kennett Collaborative, economic development is place-based. We advocate for and support the type of place where businesses can thrive and where all residents can take part and contribute to the community. We do this through our bi-monthly How We Build Matters Speakers Series and by supporting various initiatives through our economic development committee.
Farmers Market
The Kennett Square Farmers Market has been serving our community since 2000. Every week, local farmers and food artisans bring their locally-grown and freshly-made goodness to the Farmers Market, which has become a gathering point for the community. Consumers have the opportunity to connect directly with small growers and producers, building relationships, trust, and a stronger local food economy. The Farmers Market takes place every Friday, year round, at The Creamery of Kennett Square.
Around the Square Newsletter
Kennett Collaborative creates a weekly newsletter called “Around the Square.” The newsletter is sent to around 7,000 local residents and covers local events, community planning and development issues, a regular “Meet the Merchants” series sharing the stories behind the small businesses that make Kennett special, and much more. The newsletter is a great way to stay up-to-date on ways to get involved and support the Kennett community.
Business Support
Kennett Collaborative provides bespoke support to new and existing small businesses looking to open a store or expand. Small businesses can access our library of resources or reach out for support.
